Journalists obtained recovery of the judgement after having been brought to court for performing an investigation After having been brought to court by the authorities of Rezina town in October last year, three journalists obtained recovery of the judgement. On Thursday, three magistrates of Rezina Court of Justice adopted a decision on the rightfulness of the journalists Tudor Iaşcenco, Victor Sofroni and Cornelia Cozonac. We would like to recall the investigation „Rezina style Governance or a sinister play with real protagonists”, published in the newspapers „Cuvântul” and „Ziarul de Gardă”, in which the journalists disclosed the abuses committed by district and Town Hall officials while privatizing some objects. Interviewed by Monitor Media Agency, Tudor Iaşcenco declared that they, the journalists, documented themselves extremely well during the investigation, being able to present around 40 items of evidence, mostly documents, to the Court. According to Iaşcenco, Rezina Town Hall demanded USD 320 thousand from the newspaper as moral damage, other two officials also referred to in the investigation demanded MDL 5 thousand and, respectively, MDL 15 thousand. We would like to specify that, in their investigation the journalists wrote about the abuses committed by district and Rezina Town Hall officials while privatizing some objects. As the journalists claim, only one person, either a Town Hall employee or a district official, applied at the bidding of each object, the objects being exposed at hilarious prices. Rezina authorities have the right to recall the decision of Rezina Court of Justice in the Court of Appeal. Previously, Mihail Cuţ, Mayor of Rezina town, declared for Monitor Media agency that „the journalists wrote lies” in the investigation. One can conclude from the article that no state structures exist in Rezina and the laws do not function, Mayor Cuţ mentioned. Press monitoring agency „Monitor Media”
