On November 25, 2011, a group of managers and editors from local and regional publications took part in the training course “Ethical norms for placing publicity in local newspapers”, which took place in Chisinau. Throughout September – October 2011, API has monitored 17 local newspapers, including several from Transnistrian region and TAU Gagauz-Yeri, on the separation of the editorial content from advertising. more

During the meeting, discussions were held in relation to the latest events unfolded by API, with a highlight on the following: the training sessions developed by API in the view of training employees of member-newspapers, organized sittings, ongoing projects etc. As well, API-member newspapers’ monitoring reports pertaining to the observance of deontology norms were examined. In this context, API Executive Director forwarded the proposal to appoint an ombudsman of the organization. more

On May 19 this year, the editorial offices of newspapers „Ziarul de Gardă” and „Timpul de dimineaţă” developed a flash-mob in front of General Prosecutor's Office. The journalists from the two publications request competent bodies to investigate, in state of emergency, the case of illegal newspapers „Ziarul de Chişinău” and „Timpul de Chişinău” and inform the public opinion about the political factors which ordered and paid the slanderous and compromising actions.

In October 2010 Sergiu Strul, Director of Baltsi Central Market, filed a complaint in Court Instance against „SP” newspaper, demanding moral damages worth 50 thousand MDL from the newspaper, as well as the publication of refutation. Sergiu Strul accused „SP” of deliberate attack upon his dignity and honor in the article published on June 2, 2010 – „We never experienced such an insensitiveness” (editorial office note – unofficial translation). The concerned article was generated by a joint complaint on behalf of Market employees, who blamed Sergiu Strul for „seizing some commercial retail shops with merchandise” and other abuses. more
